About
Mateusz Jagiello is a Polish photographer and visual artist whose work explores the depth, complexity, and quiet beauty of human emotion.
After studying classical music for more than twenty years, he left a doctoral program to dedicate himself entirely to photography and the visual arts. For much of his life, he felt he was interpreting the work of others through music. Photography became the medium through which he could finally express something entirely his own.
Jagiello’s work exists at the intersection of realism and abstraction. While rooted in truth, his photographs seek something deeper than appearances—capturing the emotional presence of a person rather than simply their likeness. Each portrait is approached as a collaboration and a study of character, resulting in images that feel intimate, timeless, and deeply personal.
Working primarily in black and white, he removes the distractions of color to reveal the subtle gestures, textures, and expressions that often go unnoticed. The result is photography that feels both modern and classical—stripped to its emotional core.
Born into an analog world and shaped by the digital revolution, Jagiello blends traditional artistic sensibilities with contemporary techniques. His approach is intentionally personal and carefully crafted, allowing the individuality of every subject to guide the final image.
His work has received over fifty international photography awards and has been published in fashion and fine art magazines worldwide.
For Jagiello, photography is not simply about creating images—it is about preserving something meaningful: a moment of truth that can live on long after the moment itself has passed.
